Calling All Mama's

Jeff and I have an ultrasound scheduled for September 1st. We are hoping our baby will cooperate and we will be able to tell if it's a boy or a girl. Once that's done, we'll be starting our baby registry. Since I've never been a mommy before, and have no clue what to ask for, I'm asking all my mommy friends to help me out. I would love it if even my lurkers responded to this one. It would be fun!

So, here's the question: What is the one thing that you bought/received that was the most helpful in caring for baby?

A baby bathtub that fits in the kitchen sink. After giving birth, you really don't want to be down on your knees in the bathroom.

And a front baby carrier, for when you're shopping.

Nipple covers for your nipples, if they get sore from nursing.

I had a small "bean bag" about two ft. long, kinda rounded. Worked wonderfully for nursing. Conforms to your arm, boob, belly, and baby's shape all at the same time.

Hands down, the Boppy pillow if you're planning on nursing. When I was still in the hospital with Bridget, it was ridiculous the way I had to have all these pillows propped and contraptions everywhere to help get the right angle for nursing. A Boppy saved all that trouble and ends up being like a third arm. Awesome! Also, teething tablets have worked better for us than orajel, that the baby usually spits out and chokes on. They're homeopathic, but work really good and calms baby down from teething pain.

a rocker, to help calm you and the little one down when he's woken you up for the third time in the night ! and cloth dipers ! they are useful for everything from burpping to emergency use when out of disposable ones! and a thing called the cuddle wrap.....it fits like a sling over one arm and the baby rides safely and comfortably in it and you can nurse him / her no matter where you are and no one will knowtice! I made one for my first grandchild and it came in very handy for her as much as it did me 1 very well used in eruope!
